Morning arrival in Palermo Airport*. Gioacchino will pick you up and bring you to your hotel, Plaza Opera. The hotel is located in one of the most elegant residential neighborhoods of Palermo. Unpack, relax and enjoy some free time before we head out to dinner.
Our first group dinner will be at L’Ottava Nota Ristorante (Reviews include: “The food is fun, adventurous and delicious”, “an amazing place to eat!” and “one of the best pasta dishes I’ve ever eaten!”)

Tuesday, May 30th
After breakfast at the hotel, we will be touring the Mercato del Capo, an authentic Sicilian market with fresh produce, seafood, meat, cheese, spices, olives and so much more! From there we’ll take a walking tour in the historic center of Palermo to discover the wonderful monuments of Arab-Norman style.
This afternoon we’ll enjoy a ‘street food’ style lunch in the lively streets of Palermo. Spend the rest of the day to yourself – go shopping or enjoy the beach in Mondello. Enjoy dinner on your own tonight!

Wednesday, May 31st
After breakfast, pack your bags as we prepare to head across the island to Ragusa. On our way we will stop in the beautiful town of Caltagirone. You’re free to explore the Sicilian baroque architecture and enjoy lunch on your own. In the afternoon, we’ll head to hotel De Stefano Palace, located in Ragusa’s center city, to check-in.
Tonight we will be visiting Antica Dolceria Bonajuto, a chocolate producer, for a tour and tasting. Afterwards, we’ll head to Hostaria della Musica for an amazing Chocolate dinner.

Thursday, June 1st
After breakfast, we’ll head to Donnalucata for some beach time and shopping. We’ll be visiting Azienda Curto Winery where we will enjoy a delicious tasting lunch.
Tonight we will head to Ragusa Ibla where you will have time to explore the town, shop and enjoy dinner on your own.

Friday, June 2nd
After breakfast at the hotel, we’ll take a boat tour and visit the sea caves of Ortigia. We will then have a guided tour of Siracusa with time to explore on our own and grab some lunch. Tonight, we’ll dine inside the hotel at La Fenice Restaurant, an amazing 1 star Michelin restaurant.
Saturday, June 3rd
After breakfast, we will meet cheese producer, Maria, at Cilone Family Farm. We’ll watch her make Caciocavallo and Ricotta by hand and then enjoy a tasting of the freshly made cheeses. From there we’ll visit the local market and butcher shop before heading into Chef Claudio Ruta’s kitchen at Ristorante la Fenice for the ultimate cooking class.
One of our favorite quotes from our last tour says it all: “Chef Ruta has a unique talent for creating simple yet innovative riffs on Sicilian classics. His passion for ingredients, local traditions and finding joy in the process inspired us greatly. A self-taught chef who is all heart, he seemed proud of what we accomplished in his kitchen. After class, we sat down to the 6-course meal, with each student explaining the process behind their dish. We all agreed that it was the most memorable meal of the trip!”

Sunday, June 4th
While we enjoy breakfast at the hotel, the aTTavola staff will collect luggage as we prepare to hear to Trapani. On our way we will stop at the Temple Valley Greek Ruins. On our way to Agrigento,we’ll enjoy the spectacular views of the coastline. We’ll enjoy lunch at Porto San Paolo, a local restaurant located right on the water. We will then head to our hotel, Baglio Sorio, which offers spectacular views of Trapani. Tonight you will have free time walking, shopping and dining in medieval city of Erice, where you can see the entire northwestern shore of Sicily from the castle!

Monday, June 5th
This morning we will visit Terre di Shemir, an Extra Virgin Olive Oil producer in Guarrato, where we will also enjoy a tasting lunch. The afternoon and evening are yours to explore the historic town of Erice. Dinner on your own tonight.

Tuesday, June 6th
After breakfast we’ll take a trip to the port of Trapani where we will take a boat tour to Favignana, the largest of the Egadi Islands. These islands boast some of the most crystalline water in Sicily! Enjoy the afternoon swimming, walking, shopping and dining. Tonight we will head to Castellammare del Golfo to enjoy dinner at La Cambusa, a delicious seafood restaurant.

Wednesday, June 7th
After breakfast at the hotel, we’l visit the local fish market in Trapani and then head to the Salt Flats in Marsala. From there we will visit Cantine Pellegrino, a wine producer and enjoy a tasting lunch. Tonight we will enjoy dinner together at Serisso 47 in Trapani (reviews include: “Best in Trapani” and “elegant and tasty!”).

After breakfast, we’ll head to Palermo Airport (PMO) where we will all say our goodbyes.

Guide and co-owner of aTTavola, Gioacchino Passalacqua, is an artisanal Italian food exporter, gastronome and native Sicilian who divides his time between Sicily, Italy and New York. As a native Mediterranean, Gioacchino has developed relationships with food producers, restaurateurs, olive oil companies, chocolatiers, vintners and confectioners.
